Travis Lee
Born and raised in the Eastern Cape (East London), I moved to the Mother City to pursue my dream of being a filmmaker. Since entering the film industry I’ve been paying my dues on film sets wherever I’m given the opportunity. First as a background wrangler, where I learned how to manage chaos, and deal with cast with a smile. The moved up to Set PA, where I cut my teeth on long-form shoots and fast-paced commercials, learning the art of anticipation and the value of a relentless work ethic. Every coffee run, every equipment haul, every late-night or extended day taught me something new. How a set breathes, how a crew thrives, and how a vision becomes reality, how I belonged to serve in the film industry.

I’ve made my way quickly up the ladder to 3rd AD on numerous long-form projects as well as in TV commercials. As an assistant director, I am comfortable working on all production types, from the long form to content creation, and the TVC space. I have worked on massive, high-budgeted international shoots as well as on independent, low-budget local projects and everything in between. With an attitude that each shoot brings a different set of challenges, and opportunity to learn. Because no two shoots are the same, but each one deserves the same level of commitment, energy and hard work. I bring clear communication, high work ethic, and good energy to every set that I'm on, and absorb the knowledge from each shoot I work on. Always willing to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty to get the job done.

Film is my passion, it’s in my blood and nothing inspires me more than being a part of the filmmaking process. Because film isn’t just a job it is the closest thing to magic. Whether it’s the camaraderie of a crew pushing through a 16-hour day, the quiet thrill of getting a peak at the monitor, or even managing 400 extras, I’m reminded every time on shoot that this is where I’m meant to be, and what I was destined to do.
